Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 31, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the myMic mobile app (“myMic,” “the app,” “we,” “us”) handles information. myMic is published by Sara Han. The app is a general-audience tool for practicing speaking out loud and building confidence, used by language learners, people preparing for conversations, and anyone who wants to practice—including children, who should use it with a parent or guardian.
Important — please read. myMic uses a cloud-based artificial intelligence service (Google’s Gemini API) to power its talking features. This means that your voice recordings and the text of what you say or type are sent over the internet to Google for processing. We do not currently process this content fully on the device. Please review the sections below before using the app, and if the app is used by a child, please review them as the responsible adult.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The app is operated by Sara Han. If you have any questions, requests, or concerns about this policy or your information, you can contact us at:
- Email: sara.digital0101@gmail.com
2. Information the app processes
a) Microphone and voice recordings
myMic asks for microphone permission so you can record yourself answering prompts and listen back. These audio recordings are created and stored locally on the device.
b) Voice recordings sent to Google (the “Buddy repeats” feature)
When you use the feature where Buddy repeats what you said, the audio recording of your voice is uploaded to Google’s Gemini API so it can be transcribed and read back. Your voice is therefore transmitted to and processed by Google.
c) Messages and debate responses sent to Google
In the “Let’s Chat” and “Quick Debate” features, the text of what you say or type (including speech that has been converted to text) is sent to Google’s Gemini API to generate Buddy’s replies.
d) Speech-to-text by the device’s operating system
To turn speech into text, myMic uses the speech-recognition service built into the device’s operating system (Apple on iOS, Google on Android). Depending on the device and its settings, that audio may be processed on the device or on Apple’s or Google’s servers, under their respective privacy policies.
e) App settings
Simple preferences (such as app settings) are stored locally on the device so the app can remember them. These are not transmitted to us.
3. What we do NOT do
- We do not require accounts, names, sign-ups, or logins.
- We do not show advertising.
- We do not use third-party analytics or tracking tools.
- We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone.
- We do not collect location, contacts, photos, or device identifiers for tracking.
- We, the developer, do not maintain our own server that stores your recordings or messages.
4. Third-party services
Because content is processed by outside companies, their handling of that data is governed by their own policies, which we do not control:
- Google (Gemini API) — processes voice recordings and message text as described above. See Google’s Privacy Policy and the Gemini API Terms.
- Apple (iOS speech recognition) — see Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Google (Android speech recognition) — see Google’s Privacy Policy.
5. If a child uses myMic
myMic is a general-audience app and is not directed primarily at children. However, we know children may use it. A person’s voice and the things they say are personal information, and because the app sends voice recordings and message text to Google as described in Section 2, we recommend that if a child uses myMic, a parent or guardian:
- reviews this policy and decides whether the app is appropriate for the child;
- sets up and supervises the child’s use of the app;
- reminds the child not to say or type personal details (such as full name, address, school, or phone number) into the app.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is processed to provide the features described above. If you are a parent or guardian and you would like information reviewed or deleted, please contact us at sara.digital0101@gmail.com and we will respond promptly.
6. Data retention and deletion
- On the device: recordings and settings created by the app remain on the device. You can remove them by deleting recordings within the app (where available) or by uninstalling the app, which removes its local data.
- With Google and Apple: any data transmitted to Google or Apple is retained and handled according to their own policies, which we do not control. Please refer to the links in Section 4.
7. How information is protected
Data sent to Google’s Gemini API is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Planned changes to how we process audio
We are working to move more processing onto the device so that voice recordings and messages do not need to be sent to a cloud service in the future. Until that change is released, the cloud processing described in this policy applies. We will update this policy if our practices change.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here, and we encourage you to review this page periodically.
